| OCL has recently penetrated into the business of TCD mechanism for changing Sub-entry nozzle (SEN) without terminating casting, in collaboration with an Italian Company |
| |
| Types of Mechanism |
ZKB system – where flow control of steel from tundish to mould is done by Monoblock stopper |
HK1 system – where flow control of steel from tundish to mould is done by Slide plates |
| |
| Refractories Used |
In ZKB system - MBS, SEN, Tundish nozzle and well block |
In HK1 system - SEN, Tundish nozzle, well block and 3 slide gate plates in which the top and bottom plates are stationery and the middle plate moves to control the flow of steel |
| |
| Special Features |
SEN can be changed any number of times, hence casting sequence can be increased to a great extent, may be upto 30 heats |
SEN can be changed in less than 1 second without any disruption of steel flow |
SEN can be changed without lowering or lifting of tundish |
Re-oxidation of steel can be prevented at the refractory joints by effective Argon purging system |
Blank plates are provided to discontinue casting in case of emergency situations, which ensures safety |
Enhancing cost-effectiveness in refractories leading to economic benefit |
This is a tailor-made product and hence can be fixed under any tundish with minor modifications |
It has a compact structure with average dimensions 900 x 600 x 300 mm3 |
Cylinders for pushing SEN or slide plates are operated hydraulically and hence no jerking occurs that prevents any chance of SEN breakage |
Spring checking equipments and SEN handling devices during changing will be provided along with the mechanism for safer operation |
| |
| Advantages of the mechanism |
Less down time of tundish as all the mechanism parts are not dismantled after each casting |
Higher life of mechanism which is more than 2000 hours of casting |
Higher life of springs which is more than 1000 hours of casting |
Low maintenance time |
To avoid any steel leakage. Disc type springs are provided that maintains a face pressure of 1.5 MT in between tundish nozzle and SEN and 5 MT in between the slide plates |
Springs are high temperature resistant and can operate upto 450 deg C |
Nozzle diameter can vary over a vast range of 60 mm to 100 mm |
